UFC 124 Results: Georges St. Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck

The main event fight on the UFC 124 main fight card is Georges St. Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck. It’s a title match, with GSP defending his title. Koscheck is full of swagger, but I haven’t seen that he’s fighting all that different from when St. Pierre defeated him the first time. Herb Dean the ref, the fighters DON’T touch gloves and here we go! Koscheck on the inside, St. Pierre tries a kick but misses. Then he charges him and takes him down at 20 seconds! Koscheck wall-walks up and they go back to the middle. A jab from GSP, Koscheck backs off for a second then comes back. GSP lands another jab, Koscheck bleeding under his right eye. St. Pierre goes for a takedown, but Koscheck avoids. In the middle, another stiff jab from St. Pierre. Koscheck swings a right and I feel the breeze from here. Another jab from GSP, then a lick. Oh! GSP lands a wicked right, and Koscheck feels that one! Inside kick, then a jab from GSP. A very technical battle from St. Pierre tonight. Koscheck slips out of a grapple quickly, and GSP punishes him with a jab on the nose. Koscheck’s eyes water but he charges him and backs him to the cage, trying to take him down. He has St. Pierre’s knee…he finally gets it! 10 seconds to go, GSP in full guard. Round over.
Round 2
Koscheck’s right eye is bad, swollen shut. St. Pierre is naturally using his left side more, and Koscheck is already at the disadvantage here. A superman jab from GSP. St. Pierre is putting his weight on his haunches more, putting more power in his jabs, he senses Koscheck is in trouble. He lands more jabs on the eye. A leg kick, Koscheck is not answering that much. A few jabs but they don’t land. St. Pierre starts to taunt Koscheck a little bit, dropping his hands. When Koscheck comes in, he’s ready and nails him. Another superman punch by GSP. Koscheck tries his right and St. Pierre avoids it. St. Pierre tags him with a jab again and rocks him, then two more! Koscheck is taking a beating! Koscheck lands a hard uppercut in a combo. He’s still in the fight! St. Pierre lands another double jab. Round over.
Round 3
St. Pierre comes out with a jab, then a kick. Koscheck hesitating too much, and St. Pierre taking full advantage. Koscheck tries, as his corner is hollering at him. They clinch up on the fence, battling for control and a takedown. St. Pierre drops down a little, then back to putting knees into Koscheck. They split and St. Pierre gives him some more jabs. Koscheck tries to push forward but they tie up. Then separate, St. Pierre landing another outside leg kick followed by a jab. Koscheck tries a head kick, misses by a mile. Then he checks the clock. Koscheck tries to charge and St. Pierre steps aside, lets him stumble across the mat. More jabs from GSP. Round over.
Round 4
Koscheck is far less cocky now as the medical staff checks his eye. Koscheck wants to continue, and they let him. St. Pierre comes out with some brutal leg kicks, both sides and then charges and takes him down. Koscheck gets back up, but St. Pierre hangs onto his back and takes him down again. Koscheck fights his way back up, and St. Pierre knees him in his right eye! They’re on the fence, tied up. The ref breaks them up. St. Pierre’s corner told him to circle and jab, circle and jab. That’s what he’s doing, plus some leg kicks. Koscheck lands a jab but pulls away quick. St. Pierre kicks and Koscheck counters. They trade punches again and Koscheck goes down to one knee. St. Pierre is putting on a clinic! Koscheck’s foot seems to be hurt. Koscheck connects with a hook. St. Pierre answers with an inside leg kick and two jabs. Another double jab from St. Pierre. He’s picking up the tempo. Now a left hook, kick, combo…Koscheck can’t answer. Koscheck tries a leg kick, he totally misses. Round over.

TMZ.com has gotten it’s Hot Little Hands on cellphone video footage of the scandal-prone singer-actress smoking a legal substance out of a bong, cursing, and laughing uncontrollably while a friend records the whole scene.

The second season of the marriage-reality show on Imagine TV ended on March 6. Cricketers Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, reportedly, had been approached for the show’s next season, but neither found the idea of a ‘public’ wedding exciting. Now, the buzz is that Kamal Rashid Khan (of Bigg Boss 3 and Deshdrohi ‘fame’), item dancer Sambhavna Seth and cricketer S Sreesanth are in next in line.

Fazila Allana of SOL, the production house that anchors the show, insists that no one even has the cricketers’ numbers. “We still have to discuss our options, so I wonder how Sambhavana Seth, KRK, Sreesanth, Dhoni and Yuvraj even came into the picture. In fact, we are yet to decide whether it will require the search for a groom or a bride.”

However, she admits that the possibility of approaching a dashing young cricketer is high since there are “only three religions in India — politics, Bollywood and cricket”

According to Shailaja Kejriwal of Imagine TV, the channel is still recovering from the Mahajan wedding. “Ideally, there should be a gap of six months between two seasons. But at the rate the names are being thrown up, the media will be conducting the Swayamvar within two months,” she smiles.

Though she does dismiss the idea of a cricketer being approached, pointing out that they are all busy with the IPL season: “We need an entertainer on the show, but we haven’t decided yet,” Allana agrees: “Both Rakhi (Sawant)and Rahul (Mahajan) were colourful personalities, that’s a prerequisite for such content.” After two seasons, the show is expected to move out of Fatehgarh Palace in Udaipur to a new location.

Aretha Franklin Has Pancreatic Cancer

Aretha Franklin is battling cancer, a family friend has announced to FOX 2 News in Detroit.

According to the report, family and friends close to the Queen of Soul are "very concerned," but say she is doing "okay." Family expressed hopes to FOX that fans of Aretha, 68, will send prayers and good thoughts.

In a post at PopCrunch, a National Enquirer story (not available online) is cited saying Franklin's cancer is pancreatic. The same report notes sources saying Aretha has less than a year to live.

"Though the Enquirer is known for its often-outlandish take on unbiased journalism," PopCrunch writes, "it should be noted that the publication was the first in the world to report Patrick Swayze and Michael Landon's battles with pancreatic cancer, a disease that has a less than 10 percent survival rate and ultimately killed both actors. They also blew the lid off Christina Applegate's breast cancer scare in 2008."

FOX 2 in Detroit was unable to confirm the specific type of cancer. Franklin underwent a "highly successful" surgery last week, though the cause was not revealed.

"God is still in control," Aretha's post-surgery statement read. "I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country."

News of Franklin's unspecified operation came a month after she announced the cancellation of all concert dates and personal appearances through May on the order of her doctors. That announcement came after Franklin's brief visit to a Detroit hospital -- no details were given about her condition at the time.

It's been a difficult several months for Franklin; her adult son, Eddie, was beaten by three men at a Detroit gas station in September. A month earlier, she broke ribs in a fall, causing her to miss two free concerts in New York.

Aretha Franklin, born in Memphis and raised in Detroit, is the singer of hits like 'Respect,' 'Chain of Fools,' and '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.'

Student Samuel Koch was trying to jump over a series of moving cars while wearing 'kangaroo' spring stilts when he got caught by the fourth vehicle - driven by his father - and fell.
As he lay motionless on the floor, distraught Wetten, dass? host Thomas Gottschalk called for a doctor and the cameras panned away from the stage
The 23-year-old was conscious and treated for a number of minutes before being strapped to a spinal board and taken to hospital.
Last night he was operated on at the University Hospital in Dusseldorf, but there was no news on his condition.
Wetten, dass? (Bet it?) features stunts by members of the public and is one of the most watched shows in Europe.
Koch had claimed he could leap five cars within four minutes in his spring-propelled stilts.
After the accident, TV chiefs showed repeats of musical acts which had previously appeared on the show for 25 minutes before finally cancelling the programme.
Take That and American teenage star Justin Bieber had been due to perform.
Gottschalk announced:'We will here and now break off the programme. Anything else would be wrong. We feel responsible to not make jolly when we are not.'
When he had introduced the stunt, Gottschalk told the audience that he had been very worried watching rehearsals of Koch jumping over cars being driven towards him.
He had told magazine Der Spiegel: 'I have never been so scared that something would happen to this young man. I can only say, I hope all goes well.'
The magazine speculated that the stunts were becoming increasingly dangerous at least in part due to competition from the rival Das Supertalent show which goes out on a rival station at the same time.
Koch was jumping over successively bigger cars, and broke off the second jump, looking irritated and stressed, according to Der Spiegel.
He cleared the third but the fourth, which was being driven by his father, was too much and he caught himself on it somehow and crashed to the floor.
It is the first time in 29 years that the show has been cancelled.
Gottschalk said later:'It is the first time in my long, long career that such a thing has happened and we have carried out many dangerous stunts.
'I have always said that would be the worst thing for me, if something happened to one of my candidates in a live show. I regret enormously that this has now happened.'
