The Steelers went skill position in round three, snagging WR Emmanuel Sanders out of SMU. Sanders was one of the last players to visit the team and is projected as a 3rd/slot receiver.
Sanders had a huge 2009 season, with 98 receptions for 1,339 yards and seven touchdowns. He had an excellent Senior Bowl week and combine, where he ran a 4.4 in the 40. Scouting reports say he has a tendency to sometimes try to make plays happen before the catch, resulting in a loss of concentration on catchable balls. But on the surface, he looks like a decent prospect who will provide some depth needed at the position with the dismissal of Santonio Holmes.
