Veteran ESPN sportscaster Ron Franklin has been fired after he reportedly made sexist comments to sideline reporter Jeannine Edwards, calling her in a condescending tone "sweet baby" or "sweetcakes," according to different accounts, as well as an "a**hole." The termination follows a media firestorm yesterday when word of the incident, which had happened during a staff meeting on Friday, leaked. It forced Franklin, a 20-year ESPN veteran who called mostly college football and basketball games, to issue a public apology. That wasn't enough. "Based on what occurred last Friday, we have ended our relationship with him," an ESPN spokesman said in a statement.

US Navy Scandal ship information video scenes
Captain Owen Honors, the ships second ranking officer, is the man who allegedly put this video together and he appeared in the videos in 2006 and 2007, according to Yahoo News. The videos were shown throughout the ship on closed circuit Tvs. Captain Owen Honors was made the ships commander in May, according to the article on Yahoo News.
The videos were an attempt by Honors at getting the crews attention as it instructed them on ship board safety and rules, which that it did. The Navy does not like its depictions of what is thought to be humorous by the officer who made the video. Navy Commander Chris Sims gave a statement to the media saying “this was not acceptable then (when the videos were made) and it is not acceptable in today’s Navy.”
The Navy will continue with its investigation and it is most likely safe to say the videos are no longer used for passing on the mundane information that everyone must learn.
Pete Postlethwaite Dies at 64
BBC News reports that Postlethwaite, who also appeared in the 2010 box-office smash "Inception," passed away peacefully in a hospital in Shropshire, England, after a long battle with cancer.
Postlethwaite's 40-year career encompassed both stage and screen, including a stint in the 1980s with the Royal Shakespeare Company after years of working in regional English theater. With the kind of instantly recognizable face crucial for a character actor — sunken, bony cheeks, broad forehead and a bulbous nose — Postlethwaite made his way to the screen in 1988 in the British drama "Distant Voices, Still Lives," one of many rough-edged, working-class roles he would take on over the years.
He was born in Warrington, England, on February 7, 1946, and initially trained to be a teacher, serving as a drama instructor at Loreto College in Manchester before taking a detour into acting.
His breakthrough came playing Daniel Day-Lewis' father in the political drama "In the Name of the Father," which earned him a best-supporting-actor Oscar nomination. He followed that part with other memorable roles in films such as "The Usual Suspects," "Brassed Off" and "Amistad." Postlethwaite also made forays into big-budget Hollywood fare, including "Alien 3," Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet," "Inception," "Clash of the Titans" and "The Lost World: Jurassic Park." It was his work in that dinosaur sequel that led director Steven Spielberg to dub the veteran performer the "best actor in the world."
Postlethwaite returned to the stage in 2008 to star in Shakespeare's "King Lear" at the Everyman Theater in Liverpool, where he had gotten his start nearly 40 years earlier.
He is survived by his wife and two children.

Chuck Berry Collapse at Winter Dance
Berry was playing a gig at the Concert Theater and, according to the Chicago Tribune, began showing signs something was wrong early on. The promoter of the event told the paper, "Obviously, something was off ... Fifteen minutes into the set it went from fine to something wasn't right. He was starting songs mid-song, playing 15 seconds of a song."
After several failed attempts at the guitar, Berry played keyboard -- then slumped over.
Berry (who is 84) was taken off stage. but came back 15 minutes later and tried resuming the show ... but was taken off stage again. He returned one more time, assured fans he was OK (see video below), and did his signature duck walk before leaving for good.
Berry did not go to the hospital ... he took a limo home. That's how he rolls.

UFC 125 Results: Thiago Silva Breaks Brandon Vera

It wasn't pretty from start to finish and it was definitely ugly as loser Brandon Vera showed off a horribly broken nose. Thiago Silva took him down and beat him up for three brutal rounds to take a unanimous decision.
Vera managed to fend off Thiago Silva's early striking blitz but found himself taken down from against the fence. Silva passed to Vera's half guard. Vera managed to break down Silva's posture and keep him from launching much offense but he spent a long time on his back. Silva then passed to side control. He flirted with north south and landed some strikes from the top. Vera used a Silva mount attempt to reclaim half guard. He then attacked a leg but had nothing and they quickly returned to Vera's guard where Silva landed some hard shots. After the bell Vera continued to walk toward Silva and the ref had to separate them.
Vera came out swinging in the second and he hurt Silva with knees and punches and kicks. Silva answered but Vera continued to score with strikes. Silva than tripped Vera and returned to his guard. Silva stepped over Vera's guard and worked for mount. Silva than rained down hard punches from half guard. Silva then got tangled up and had to settle for some body shots. He briefly got free and pounded Vera from the top. Vera somehow survived the round.
Vera came out aggressive again in the third and knocked Silva down with a leg kick. He quickly got himself taken down again though. The crow booed as Silva struggled to get an arm free to punch Vera. Then he got free and landed hard shots to the face and knees to the legs and body. Silva threatened a rear naked choke and whaled away from the top. Silva grew very frustrated and began using open hand strikes to Vera's ears mixed in with punches to the head. Vera got up bloody and bashed as the bell rang.
Cutman Stich asked Vera, "Ever had your nose broken before?" as the camera focused on Vera's grotesquely broken nose.
