UFC 123 weigh ins

Detroit is one of America’s most-known cities for a number of reasons, some extremely positive and others its residents would likely prefer to forget. Tomorrow evening, the former will undoubtedly ring true as the UFC prepares to fire up its cameras to present a card ripe with talent and headlined by a quartet of former champions meeting in the Octagon.

This afternoon, all UFC 123 competitors stepped on the scale and made weight meaning the only “blues” echoing throughout Motown tonight will be those of a musical origin.

Former light heavyweight title-holders Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto Machida are set to clash in the evening’s main event with an argument for top contendership in the division at stake. Both 205-pounders are coming off losses in their previous appearances and will undoubtedly be looking to to dull fans’ memories of said performances by delivering a convincing victory on Saturday night.

Jackson and Machida both weighed in at for their clash at 205 on the dot.

Meanwhile, 170-pound icon Matt Hughes and former double-divisional champ B.J. Penn will settle their score once and for all by breaking their 1-1 career tie in a co-headlining bout. Hughes, perhaps the most dominant welterweight champion in UFC history, has had a career resurgence as of late with a trio of consecutive victories inside the Octagon including a first-round submission of BJJ-blackbelt Ricardo Almeida at UFC 117 this past August. Comparably, his outspoken Hawaiian adversary will be attempting to avoid the first three-fight skid of his career after having lost back-to-back match-ups to Frank Edgar in his last two outings.

Hughes came in slightly smaller than normal at 169 pounds with Penn also registering at 169 clicks on the scale.
