New Mexico State University NCAA Tournament Loss

Close win for Michigan State against New Mexico State University where the Spartans won by just three points 70-67 in Spokane, Washington. New Mexico State University rallied in the second half despite being down by eleven points at halftime when Michigan State led 42-29.

Michigan State was led by Kalin Lucas with 25 points and two rebounds. The number five seed came into the game with an impressive 14-4 Big Ten record and 25-8 overall in the season.

New Mexico State was 22-12 overall and a 11-5 record in the WAC.

The Aggies almost took the lead after Troy Gillenwater brought the team to just one point down with twenty two seconds left. The score at that point was 68-67. But two free throws by Raymar Morgan for Michigan State was enough to seal the victory. A three pointer miss by NMSU's Jonathan Gibson left them just short of tying the game at 70 points each.
