Women's tennis beats Marquette University

The Western Michigan University women’s tennis team (6-2) won its third-straight contest Friday, 5-2, against the visiting Marquette University Golden Eagles (5-3) at the West Hills Athletic Club in Kalamazoo.
The Lady Broncos are now 5-0 at home on the season. Only a Valentine’s Day home contest against the no. 37 ranked DePaul University Blue Demons (5-1) stands in the way of assuring an undefeated home schedule until the team returns to Kalamazoo in late April.
WMU lost its first doubles point at home this season, 2-1, which also was the first set the team dropped in doubles at home all year. before Friday, the team stood at 12-0 overall in home doubles sets.

Friday’s contest time was three hours and fifty minutes; an eternity compared to last Saturday’s hour and a half effort.
The Brown and Gold stayed focused in the singles session. Senior Emily Dudzik dropped her first set, 6-4, to Marqutte’s Paola Calderon before winning, 6-3-, 6-4, to add to her all-time win total.
After Sunday’s 2 p.m. contest against DePaul University, the team will have to make up its face-off at Purdue University that was postponed last Wednesday due to inclement weather.
Sunday is the last home match for WMU until April 17. The match is free and open to the public at West Hills Athletic Club.
