"What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted" by Didi Benami - TOP 10

Personally it comes as no surprise that American Idol contestant, Didi Benami was eliminated tonight on the results show. Fans seemed devastated by the defeat but for Tim Urban, he keeps smiling!

As the results show votes were revealed, Katie, Tim, and Didi each had a seat, as the bottom three, on the stools with the least amount of votes. So stressful and intense I may say!
As a biography, Didi Benami was born Vered Benami in New York, New York. She is 23 years old and currently resides in Knoxville, Tennessee. She is most-known for her place on the very popular talent show American Idol Season Nine. She was given the nickname Didi by her sister. Benami began singing at church and in school musicals. She also performed singing the national anthem at various events. During high school, she moved out into her own apartment and worked as a waitress. Didi graduated from West High School. She auditioned for American Idol inspired by her college friend who lost her life in a car accident back in 2005. They attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

This week was R&B soul week with no one who knows soul better, than the very sexy and smooth singing sensation, Usher! However, Didi’s last night performance obviously did not compare nor did she win over the judges by any means. The American Idol contestant chose a poor song choice “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” which sounded utterly over-dramatic and totally worn. Even the judges referred her to “old-fashioned and off-key”. Sweet and caring Kara DioGuardi shocked me when she told Didi that “It’s over, done girl”. Ouch.
On a better note, there were some pretty awesome performances as a musical treat in light of the eliminations. Former American Idol contestant Ruben Studdard took to the stage and sang so soulfully, looking like a total “stud”. Ruben also announced his upcoming tour with another former AI contestant, Clay Aiken. Also, Puff Daddy to Diddy to Diddy Dirty Money delivered “Hello, Good Morning” and has a new logo. Last but not least, Usher rocked his new single “OMG” as he owned the stage with his signature smooth moves and his mad dance skills.
Following Benami’s mentoring session with Usher, she appeared incredibly emotional and could be seen sobbing after performing her rendition of the song for the R&B great. Of their meeting, Usher shared, “A very emotional song for a very emotional young lady.” Indeed.
Well, this was definately the end of the road for Didi Benami. After singing her exit song by Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon (Will You Ever Win)” the judges unaminously decided to “not” use the save option once again.
However, I believe we will be seeing her soon again! Best of luck to you Didi Benami. As an American Idol contestant, you should be proud! Leave your thoughts in the comment box and see pictures and a film below from last night’s performance.
