The Cuse scores 81.5 points per-game, which ranks sixth nationally. Syracuse gives up 66.9 points per-game on defense, which ranks 130th. Wes Johnson leads the Orange with 16 points and 8.4 rebounds per-game. Four other members of Syracuse score in double figures, but Arinze Onuaku, who averages 10.5 points per-game, may not play due to a quad injury.
Vermont is making its fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The America East Conference champions are 25-9 on the season and were 12-4 in conference play. Vermont scores 70.6 points per-game, which ranks 119th in the nation. The Catamounts give up 64.4 points per-game, which ranks 66th. Vermont is led by Marqus Blakely, who averages 17.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per-game. The Catamounts also get 14.1 points per-game from Maurice Joseph.
While a repeat of history likely won’t happen, Syracuse may struggle to cover due to the injuries it is dealing with. Vermont will have trouble keeping pace with the Orange, but expect them to keep it close enough to make things interesting in the second half.
