Boston (GaeaTimes.com) - The Boston Marathon is one of the most anticipated running event of 2010. The event is cherished by thousands who enjoy watching it from roadsides. A few of them also have the stamina to run alongside the fellow racer. Runners and fans gathered for the annual event which started 10 am on Monday. Thousands of participants run the 26.2 mile trek to Boston from the quiet town of Hopkinton.
This year Boston Marathon set its foot on the 114th Boston Marathon. With this event, the long tradition of Boston Marathon is commencing again. The Mobility impaired Division is expected to start at 9:00 am. The Push Rim Wheelchair participants started from 9:17 am. The handcycles division started at 9:22 am. The Elite Women category started at 9:32. The standard Boston Marathon starts at 10:00 am with Elite Men and Wave 1. Another division or Wave 2 will start from 10:30.Some participants could not attend the Boston Marathon 2010 due to the flight cancellations for the Iceland Volcano. A massive volcano ash cloud covered up the air up to 30,000 feet which have closed down all the airspaces all over the Europe. Abdellah Falil of Morocco allegedly withdrew his name from the race.
The Boston Marathon runners will run through the specified route through the Boston Suburbs of Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton and Brookline. The finish line is at the center of Copley Square.
