The Duke vs. Butler game was a pretty darn good finale to a great NCAA tournament, but how did CBS do?
The "One Shining Moment" championship montage that's traditionally played as the winning team cuts down the nets aired Monday night (April 5) to mixed response, much of it negative.
Yes, Jennifer Hudson sang the new version of the song, which was originated by David Barrett and then taken up by Teddy Pendergrass and then Luther Vandross in subsequent years. Traditionalists miss those renditions, and there's nothing that can really be done unless someone has zombie Vandross or Pendergrass tucked away in their basements.
The bigger issue, however, was the montage itself. Not only did key highlights appear to be missing (Evan Turner, Ohio-Georgetown, etc.) but there were at least five music video-style shots of the "American Idol" finalist. How is J-Hud a highlight of the tourney?
