longshot Michigan managed to beat ninth-seeded Iowa 59-52 on Thursday in the first round of the Big Ten tournament. It's the third year in a row the Wolverines have knocked off the Hawkeyes. The Iowa loss has resulted in speculation that Iowa coach Todd Lickliter would be stepping down.
The fifth-ranked Buckeyes look to strengthen their case for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA when they face eighth-seeded Michigan in a quarterfinal game on Friday.
Ohio State and Michigan State Big 10 Tournament odds for 2010 were 7/4 and 3/2, respectively, essentially sharing the favorite status.
