Crystal Bowersox illness Change American Idol schedule

Crystal Bowersox
It won’t be ladies night on “American Idol.”
The 10 male semifinalists will perform on the Fox singing competition instead of the 10 female semifinalists because 24-year-old dreadlocked singer Crystal Bowersox from Toledo, Ohio, has “medical issues which would prevent” her from performing, the network said.
Fox spokeswoman Jill Hudson would not provide additional details because the network has a policy against commenting on contestants’ personal lives.

Another person close to the show said that Bowersox had been hospitalized for a serious health problem but was expected to perform for viewer votes Wednesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because that person was not authorized to comment publicly.
Bowersox, a single mother who also plays the guitar and harmonica, pleased the judging panel last week with her performance of Alanis Morissette’s “Hand in My Pocket.” Kara DioGuardi told Bowersox she had an ability to take viewers on a journey when she’s singing.
During “Hollywood Week,” Simon Cowell praised the singer-songwriter for being “infectious.”
