Venus Williams French Open Outfit

If there’s one thing the Williams sisters can work better than a racket, it’s the media. I’d even agree that they can also work public opinion similar to their world class games.
This time, it’s Venus, and because Venus seems to be a little more chill than Serena, it has to be fashion related, right? I’m not so sure what all the fuss is about, but apparently, her “nude-colored” unders created a few gasps and swoons in the Roland Garros crowd. As you can see in the photo, she is sporting somewhat of a dominatrix vibe, and is frighteningly fit–as if she would crush you for trying to catch a glimpse of her “nude-colored” unders.
In a chat with the Los Angeles Times, Venus stated that her outfits this year were a lot “about illusion.” OK. We can dig it. I suppose when you’re that good, you can wear whatever the heck you want. I have no issue with the matching of the skin tone, but I think stripes, polka-dots or some frills would play more into the push for illusion.
I personally remember a U.S. Open I attended in which sister Serena was in a sleek, black, lycra-mix unitard-esque statement that created an audible gasp when she pulled her warm-ups off–this was in a seasoned and slightly jaded New York City stadium, mind you. The Williams sisters have pushed the fashion envelope since stepping into the professional realm of the tennis world, and it begs the question: How far might they go?
